Biography
- Mourad Tayebi is a qualified Veterinary Surgeon with an MSc in Veterinary Pathology and a PhD in Neuroimmunology from Imperial College London.
- He held research positions as Senior Research Fellow at the University of Sydney, and subsequently at the Royal Veterinary College (UK) and the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), in each case leading teams studying protein-misfolding and aggregation diseases.
- He is now based in the Neuroimmunology Laboratory, School of Medicine, Western Sydney University, Campbelltown, Australia.
- His work refines therapeutic strategies by developing novel antibodies that specifically recognise the oligomeric forms of misfolded proteins.
- His team has developed a panel of camelid antibodies able to transmigrate across the blood-brain barrier and enter the cell membrane of neurons.
