Why the journal exists
IJHA provides a focused venue for research on human structure, anatomical variation, morphometry, imaging, development, microanatomy, and anatomy education. These subjects support scholarly understanding and may inform education, diagnosis, imaging interpretation, and clinical or surgical practice.
Studies should define the anatomical question, material, landmarks, measurements, and analytical methods clearly enough for another investigator to evaluate and reproduce the work.
The journal serves anatomists, clinical and surgical specialists, radiologists, morphologists and anatomy educators. Its published work spans gross and clinical anatomy, morphometry and anthropometry, normal sectional and radiological anatomy, developmental anatomy, microanatomy where it carries anatomical significance, anatomy education, and the dissection, preservation and documentation methods those studies depend on. Publishing principles
- Editorial independence
- Editorial decisions are based on scope, scholarly quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and research integrity. They remain independent of any fee, membership, or service. Editors recuse themselves from manuscripts in which they have an interest.
- Review by relevant specialists
- Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally assessed by at least two independent specialists working in the relevant anatomical field, under a single-blind model.
- Anatomical accuracy
- Structures are named according to Terminologia Anatomica, and conclusions must follow from the anatomical evidence presented.
- Transparent methods
- Specimen sources, imaging acquisition and reconstruction parameters, and measurement protocols are reported so that a study can be repeated.
- Figure documentation
- Figures carry labeled structures and scale information, and must represent what was observed.
- Research integrity
- The journal follows publication-ethics guidance. Corrections and retractions are issued when the scholarly record requires them.

Human material
Anatomical research carries obligations that most biomedical fields do not. Work on donated human material depends on a chain of consent that the published record has to respect, and anatomical images are unusually easy to alter in ways that change their meaning.
Studies on human subjects or cadaveric material therefore require documented ethics-committee approval, body-donation program compliance, specimen anonymization and figures that have not been adjusted in ways that change anatomical interpretation. Editorial accountability
The Editor-in-Chief conducts the initial scope and quality assessment. Manuscripts suitable for further consideration are delegated to a board member working in the relevant anatomical field. Editors recuse themselves from manuscripts in which they have an interest, and those submissions are handled independently.

Articles are registered with Crossref under the DOI prefix 10.14302 and are available in full text without a paywall or a registration barrier, under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license.
A registered DOI makes an article permanently citable and resolvable, and open full text makes it retrievable by general and academic search engines. Neither is the same thing as acceptance into a selective bibliographic database, which is decided by that database and not by the publisher. The complete published record can be read in the archive.
