Aims & scope

The Journal of Agronomy Research publishes original research and reviews on the management of crops, soils and agricultural systems. Its center of gravity is field-based, replicated work that connects measured agronomic evidence to practice.

What a strong submission looks like

Studies conducted under field or realistic production conditions, with stated cultivars, soil type and site characteristics, replicated treatments and a described statistical model. Controlled-environment or laboratory work is considered where it is explicitly linked to an agronomic outcome. Reporting requirements are set out in the instructions for authors, which require SI units and reproducible reporting of site, cultivar and method.

Not considered

  • Work not directly related to agronomy or to crop and soil systems.
  • Purely clinical or medical studies.
  • Basic laboratory work with no agronomic linkage.
  • Manuscripts that lack field or applied relevance.

Submissions outside the scope may be declined without review.

If it reports field-based or applied research on crop production, soil fertility and nutrient management, crop protection, soil biology, agricultural systems or precision agriculture, it is in scope. Purely clinical or medical work, and laboratory studies with no agronomic linkage, are not.

How will my manuscript be reviewed?

Review is single-blind, with double-blind review available on request. Every submission is screened with iThenticate or an equivalent tool before it reaches reviewers, and the decision rests with the handling editor on scientific merit.

How long does it take?

Across the 75 published articles that record both dates, the median interval from submission to acceptance was 26 days, with an interquartile range of 14 to 46 days.
