Call for papers

The Journal of Biotechnology and Biomedical Science welcomes original and methodologically sound Research, Review and Short Communication submissions from researchers working across biotechnology and biomedical science.

Submission overview

  1. Regular submissions are accepted throughout the year.
  2. ManuscriptZone is the primary submission route.
  3. Article types: Research, Review and Short Communication.
  4. All manuscripts follow the journal’s editorial policies.

Research areas welcomed by JBBS

JBBS welcomes biotechnology and biomedical science research across experimental, computational, engineering and translational settings.

Medical and pharmaceutical biotechnology

Vaccine and immunotechnology, drug discovery and delivery, diagnostics, therapeutics and translational biomedical research.

Cell, gene and regenerative technologies

Cell and gene therapy, tissue engineering, biomaterials and regenerative medicine supported by appropriate models and controls.

Molecular and computational biosciences

Genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, bioinformatics, molecular diagnostics, gene expression, synthetic biology and systems biology.

Biomedical engineering

Biosensors, biomedical imaging, nanobiotechnology, devices and biological interfaces evaluated through reproducible engineering and biological methods.

Industrial and environmental biotechnology

Biomanufacturing, bioprocessing, fermentation, applied microbial systems, biosorption and bioremediation.

Natural-product and plant biotechnology

Plant biotechnology, cell culture, bioactive compounds and analytically characterized natural-product studies.

Interdisciplinary work should make its biotechnology or biomedical-science contribution explicit. Subject labels alone do not establish fit.

What a suitable submission should show

  • A defined question and a contribution beyond descriptive novelty.
  • Methods and controls sufficient for independent assessment and replication.
  • Appropriate statistical or analytical validation.
  • The approvals, consent, welfare and biosafety safeguards relevant to the work.
  • A data and materials availability statement and repository identifiers where applicable.
  • Accurate funding, competing-interest and author-contribution declarations.

Article types

Research reports an original complete study. Review critically synthesizes a defined question and explains its evidence-selection method. Short Communication reports a concise but complete and clearly supported result.

How manuscripts are assessed

Every submission is checked for scope, essential declarations and editorial suitability. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally assessed by two to three independent reviewers under the same journal policies. Payment, waiver status, invitation, membership or a Special Issue association does not influence reviewer selection or the editorial decision.

Special Issues

A Special Issue is a separately governed collection and is not created through a regular manuscript submission. Current collections and proposal requirements are listed on the Special Issues page. Invitation or proposal approval does not guarantee publication; each manuscript follows the journal’s ordinary ethics and peer-review requirements.

Before submission

Review the Aims & Scope, Instructions for Authors, Article Processing Charges and Submit Paper pages before submission.

ManuscriptZone is the primary route. Authors may instead use the simple manuscript submission form or, where permitted, the editorial email route. Use only one route for the same manuscript. For a borderline or interdisciplinary manuscript, email a provisional title, abstract and short explanation of the biotechnology or biomedical contribution; informal guidance is not an editorial decision.

Submit your research to JBBS

The Submit Paper page explains the required files, declarations and approved route hierarchy.

Submit a manuscript

Submission does not guarantee external review or acceptance. Editorial decisions are based on scope, scholarly quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality and research integrity.
