No active collection is open

The production special-issue record contains no active JVHC collection. Accordingly, this page does not publish a deadline, theme, guest-editor identity or special-issue submission link.

For authors

Do not identify a manuscript as a special-issue submission unless the journal publishes a named collection, verified guest editor and closing date on this page.

Approval requirements

No call before approval

What a future collection must establish

  • Defined veterinary questionThe theme must sit within the approved JVHC scope and explain the scholarly need for a focused collection.
  • Named guest editorA proposed collection requires a guest editor whose identity, current affiliation, subject expertise and ORCID have been verified.
  • Governance planThe proposal must state intended article types, review expertise, ethical risks, conflicts, timetable and how the collection will be distinguished from regular content.
  • Editorial approvalA proposal is not a call for papers. The journal must approve the scope, governance and public wording before recruitment begins.

Independent peer review

Same standards · no guarantee

Special issues do not use a different evidentiary standard

Editorial authority

The journal retains responsibility for scope, ethics, reviewer selection, decisions and the integrity of the published record. A guest editor cannot guarantee acceptance.

Conflicts and recusal

A guest editor must disclose relevant interests and must not handle a submission they authored or one involving close collaborators or other conflicts.

Review process

Eligible manuscripts undergo the same single-blind assessment by at least two independent reviewers as regular JVHC submissions.

Ethics and reporting

Animal welfare, consent, permits, data availability and applicable ARRIVE, CONSORT, STROBE or PRISMA reporting remain mandatory.

Publication and charges

Independent decisions

Acceptance remains article-specific

Each manuscript is assessed on its own scientific merit, ethical compliance and fit. Inclusion in a collection is not assured by invitation, proposal involvement or guest-editor status.

Any article processing charge would follow the journal's regular verified schedule and would apply only after acceptance. Payment, waiver decisions and editorial roles do not influence review or acceptance.
