Membership

Membership is an optional Open Access Pub arrangement that supports open-access publishing across the publisher's journals. It is separate from the editorial process, and it carries no weight in whether a manuscript is reviewed, revised or accepted.

What membership is

Membership is held with Open Access Pub, the publisher, rather than with this journal individually. It is voluntary: authors, reviewers and readers use JTRR in full without it, and a manuscript from a member and a manuscript from a non-member reach the editors in exactly the same condition.

Its purpose is to help fund open-access publishing, which is what allows every article this journal publishes to be free to read and to reuse from the day it appears.

Membership and the editorial process

This is the part worth stating plainly, because it is what an author needs to know when deciding whether membership bears on their submission at all.

Editorial decisions
Editorial decisions are based on scope, scientific quality, methodological rigor, ethical compliance, reporting quality, and relevance to the journal. Peer review and editorial decisions remain independent of membership and payment.
Review speed and handling
Every manuscript is handled the same way: screened in turn, assigned to the editor whose expertise fits it, and reviewed on the same terms. Single-blind by default; double-blind review is available on request. Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are normally evaluated by at least two independent subject-matter experts. A member's manuscript follows that path exactly as any other manuscript does.
Acceptance
Membership confers no advantage in the review or acceptance of a member's own work.
Editorial appointments
Places on the editorial board are offered on scholarly standing and relevant expertise. They are not a membership benefit and cannot be obtained by purchase. Expressions of interest are welcome from anyone qualified, member or not.
Visibility of published work
Articles are promoted and indexed on the same terms regardless of membership; where an article is featured, that follows editorial judgment about the work.

Current terms

Membership categories, the current fee for each, what each includes and how renewal works are held by the publisher's membership office and are confirmed there, so that what an applicant is told is what is actually in force.

To ask what is currently available, what it costs, whether an institutional arrangement is possible, or how any of it relates to the article processing charge, contact info@openaccesspub.org.

Where a membership category includes a reduction in the article processing charge, that reduction is applied to the charge set out on the article processing charges page, which remains the authority for what is owed and when. The editorial policies set out how editorial independence from payment is maintained.
