Special issues and proposals
IJHA welcomes proposals for focused collections that advance research in human anatomy, anatomical variation, imaging, morphometry, education, and related anatomical sciences. Every collection uses the same peer-review, ethics, and acceptance standards as regular submissions.
Propose a Special Issue
Submit a proposal only after defining the topic, proposed Guest Editor, timetable, governance, and oversight plan. A public call is opened after those details and the proposed editor's affiliation and relevant expertise have been verified.
What a proposal must establish
A concise rationale, intended contribution and boundaries that keep human anatomical structure, variation, measurement or teaching as the principal question.
Name, current affiliation, ORCID iD, relevant publication record, conflicts and enough availability to supervise the full collection.
Opening and closing dates, expected manuscript range, reviewer capacity, communication plan and criteria for amendment, closure or cancellation.
Potential themes and contributor communities without promises of acceptance or a requirement that invited authors submit.
Governance from proposal to publication
1 · Review
Editorial approval
The journal assesses scope, distinctiveness, feasibility, Guest Editor expertise and conflicts before announcing a call.
2 · Assess
Independent review
Manuscripts receive ordinary editorial screening and independent single-blind peer review. A conflicted Guest Editor does not handle the manuscript.
3 · Decide
Journal authority
The journal retains final decision authority and may amend or close a collection when integrity, capacity or scope requirements are not met.
Conditions that do not change
- Editorial independence
- Payment, invitation or Guest Editorship does not guarantee review, acceptance or publication.
- Research integrity
- Human-material provenance, ethics, consent, image integrity, conflicts and data statements remain mandatory.
- Article processing charges
- The same publisher-confirmed APC terms apply to regular and Special Issue articles; no collection-specific acceptance incentive is permitted.
- Published record
- Accepted articles remain individually citable and are identified as part of the collection without obscuring corrections or retractions.
